6 Simple Self-Care Tips That Changed My Life

Last spring, my body told me something was wrong. I didn’t feel like myself, I didn’t act like myself, and in a moment of overwhelm, I actually smashed my baking dish on the kitchen floor. Then I knew I had to slow down and make some changes. I reduced my soda intake, started running again, and decided to sleep seven hours a night. And most importantly, the cause of bladder infections is finally understood.
I tried various antibiotics but none worked. So I made an appointment with a specialist — a highly qualified urologist. He discovered a fundamental problem. It was that I had a huge kidney stone. She explained that if left untreated, the injury could have been fatal. All I heard was, ``I could have lost my life.’’
Believe me, I’m going to be on this earth for a very long time. I want to see my children grow. I plan to write more books. So I was grateful for the reminder that if I want to stay here, I have to take care of myself the same way I take care of the people I love.
I’ve learned a lot in the last few months since this horror. Recently, I’ve made some changes to my perspective and daily habits that have helped me think more clearly, deal with frustration better, and sleep better at night. Below are 6 self-care tips that have really worked wonders for me.
